About the Conference

NICTe 2009 will focus on ‘Deploying eHealth Tools and Services in the Nigerian Health System: The Role of mHealth’. This year’s conference aspires to be the leading Telemedicine and eHealth conference on the continent. It will be of interest to everyone who has or in the future will have contact with telemedicine or eHealth. During the conference, you will have opportunity to meet with the leading experts in healthcare, medical education, information and telecommunications industry, policy makers, government and development partners as well as end users. NICTe 2009 General Objectives

	Create a common ground upon which knowledge in disseminated, innovative thinking by medical and information communications expert on the use of ICT to promote health of Nigerians.
	See how mhealth information and communications technology can be used to solve problems encountered in the rural health care sector by learning from international experiences.
	Stimulate market development & assistance to states for the deployment of eHealth systems and services
	Demonstrate the impact of eHealth on rural health system in countries that had deployed solutions already
	Review the latest international developments in the application of telemedicine and eHealth strategies in achieving health promotion and disease prevention in Nigeria.
	Recommend measures to enhance current investments in information based technology resources in order to advance widespread health promotion, disease prevention, treatment in Nigeria using telemedicine and eHealth applications.
	Identify an appropriate policy and program support framework(s) that would best facilitate successful telemedicine / eHealth services within Nigeria and between various African countries.
	Create a professional and business-minded environment, by bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, health care providers and key contacts such as representatives of government, international organizations, and insurers in other to establish national, regional, continental and international relationships, which is of huge value in any eHealth initiative

Conference Overview

The conference organizers aim is to focus on solutions, lessons learnt and challenges of implementing eHealth foundation & enabling policies & strategies, eHealth applications (WHO eHealth development model). It is anticipated that most of the audience are very well aware of the facts that Nigeria compares very poorly with the rest of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa in the health sector. The aim of the conference is to explore:

	Potential ideas and solutions to promote the development of eHealth tools & services in Nigeria
	Key recommendations to strengthen capacity building programmes in eHealth In Nigeria
